Qualphone Joins Palm Powered Mobile World
Company to Bring Push–to–Talk Solution to Palm Powered Phones and Mobile Devices
3GSM WORLD CONGRESS, CANNES, France, Feb. 14, 2005 — PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC), provider of Palm OS®, a leading operating system powering next generation phones and mobile devices, today announced Qualphone, a company focused on developing high–quality voice and multi media software solutions for smartphones and mobile devices, has joined the Palm Powered™ Mobile World program.
In this first phase of the collaboration, Qualphone will work together with PalmSource to port Qualphone's Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) client to the Palm OS® platform. Together with Palm OS, the solution is designed to provide users with an easy–to–use and reliable push–to–talk experience on Palm Powered phones and mobile devices. Qualphone's Push–to–talk over Cellular (PoC) client is certified to meet the end–to–end interoperability standards of Nokia's back–end infrastructure, enabling PalmSource to leverage mobile operator networks worldwide that have standardized their mobile services offerings based on Qualphone's technology.
In addition to a PoC client, Qualphone offers an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) mobile client reference design to enable the creation of multimedia services that meet mobile operator network requirements. In the future, Qualphone plans to collaborate with PalmSource to optimize Qualphone's IMS offering for Palm OS, providing users with new mobile information, communication and entertainment offerings that take advantage of the advanced functionality of Palm Powered mobile devices.
"We are very pleased to join the Palm Powered Mobile World program and offer our technical expertise in enabling interactive multi media services for mobile products in an effort to enhance the user experience of Palm Powered phones and mobile devices worldwide," said Isaac Eteminan, CEO of Qualphone.
"Our partnership with industry–leading partners, such as Qualphone, reinforces PalmSource's commitment to make Palm OS the most service–ready platform for the creation of phones and mobile devices," said David Nagel president and CEO of PalmSource, Inc. "We look forward to forging new relationships with leading mobile operators, infrastructure partners and software developers in order to drive innovation and differentiation in the global phone and mobile device markets."
