PalmSource Names Industry Veteran Patrick McVeigh Senior Vice President, Worldwide Licensing and Sales

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – February 8, 2005 — PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC), provider of Palm OS®, a leading operating system powering next generation phones and mobile devices today announced the appointment of Patrick McVeigh as senior vice president, worldwide licensing and sales. McVeigh reports to David Nagel, PalmSource president and CEO.

McVeigh, 52 years old, brings more than 20 years experience in the high technology and consumer electronics industry to PalmSource. He is the former CEO of Aliph Corporation, a developer of next–generation audio and speech technologies for mobile communications devices. At Aliph, McVeigh prepared the company for the commercial launch of their technology to the consumer electronics and cellular after–markets. Prior to Aliph, he was chairman and CEO of Omnisky Corporation until selling the business to Earthlink. While with Omnisky, McVeigh developed and executed the launch of service within one year of founding the business. He grew revenues from $0 to $43 million on a run rate basis. In addition to his strategic and operational responsibilities with Omnisky, McVeigh developed strategic carrier relationships and launched data rich services on a number of networks including AT&T, Verizon, BT Cellnet and Viag. McVeigh was also with the former Palm, Inc. where he was responsible for worldwide sales of all Palm products as well as international marketing and operations. While with Palm, he drove sales from $0 to $800 million run rate in three years. Before joining Palm, McVeigh spent nearly 10 years with Apple Computer in a variety of sales positions.

McVeigh holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
