DAT Group Announce Palm OS Support for DAT Mobility Platform (DMP) at PalmSource's Euro DevCon 2004
MUNICH, Germany, September 28, 2004 — At the PalmSource™ Euro DevCon 2004, DAT Group today announced the new DAT Mobility Platform (DMP) for Palm Powered™ handhelds and smartphones. DMP for Palm OS® offers a highly innovative system for remotely configuring Palm Powered devices, in a variety of scenarios. From operator-managed administration sites and corporate device management to consumer-oriented websites, the DAT Mobility Platform brings Palm Powered devices within reach of full over-the-air (OTA) customisation and configuration.
The DAT Mobility Platform (DMP) is an operator class system for remote provisioning of smart devices. DMP support for Palm OS brings content delivery, device customisation and remote diagnostics to an exciting and fast growing platform. In both operator and enterprise scenarios, DMP will enable the remote configuration of Palm OS devices with email settings, contacts, ring tones, games and applications. The DAT Mobility Platform provides carriers, enterprises and consumers with a flexible, powerful system for setting up devices with business-critical applications, entertainment content, as well as communication and email settings.
"We believe DMP for Palm OS is a major technological breakthrough," said Larry Berkin, director of developer marketing of PalmSource, Inc. "The ability to remotely configure Palm Powered devices, as well as deploy applications and content, is a great enabling technology. DAT's innovation will help drive the Palm Powered community forward, and has the potential to open up several exciting new revenue streams for operators, hardware manufacturers and content providers."
"Bringing DMP's device management to the Palm OS is a great achievement for us," said Phil Greenhalgh, business development director of DAT. "It represents a technological first as well as an eagerly awaited step forward into the Palm Powered economy. We believe that DAT's technology and market position coupled with the popularity of Palm Powered devices is a very exciting combination."
