PalmSource Appoints Betsy Rafael to its Board of Directors

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 29, 2004 — PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC) provider of Palm OS™, a leading operating system powering next generation mobile devices and smartphones, today announced the appointment of Betsy Rafael to the PalmSource board of directors. Rafael currently serves as vice president, corporate controller and principal accounting officer at Cisco Systems, Inc.

Rafael brings 18 years of finance and operations experience at small and large high-tech companies. Before joining Cisco, she held the positions of chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance at Aspect Communications, overseeing the company's financial, legal, manufacturing, IT and facilities operations. Prior to her position with Aspect, Rafael served as senior vice president and CFO at Escalate, a private e-commerce applications service provider. Rafael has held management positions at Apple, Ernst & Young, SGI and Sun, received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Santa Clara University and is a certified public accountant.

Rafael joins PalmSource board members Eric Benhamou, John B. Shoven, Satjiv S. Chahil, Robert Finocchio, Jean-Louis Gassテゥe, David Nagel and P. Howard Edelstein.
