New Palm OS Application explores the USA

SAN JOSE, Calif. February 10, 2004 — At the PalmSource Developer Conference, fun communications announced pointUSA for Palm OS®. The new Palm OS application enables the user to explore the United States and retrieve key information about each state in an instant. Just point on a state in the map and get the key information about the selected state: position of the state displayed in the map, capital, area, population of the state and the 50 biggest cities, per capita income, poverty rate, ethnic structure of the population, time and date of your own time-zone — worldwide, time and date of the current selected state in the map.

For more intuitive time reading, the clocks are represented in different colors, depending on time of day. A user can also access country specific facts by scrolling over the map with a simple stroke of a stylus. pointUSA offers two maps: one displays the states and the other one shows the 50 biggest cities - a yellow square indicates the position.

pointUSA displays two pairs of bars for comparing surface and population with a second state or another country of the world as well as the rank list place of total area and total population of a state in the world-wide comparison. pointUSA offers low and high resolution versions for all devices and high quality color or grey graphics and sampled sound. pointUSA will run without any restrictions for seven days and is available for $ 19.95 at www.fun4palm.com.

The Quiz
The quiz functionality of pointUSA offers nearly unlimited possibilities to test the knowledge about the capitals of the states, population of the 50 biggest cities and a lot more. Every quiz is generated out of hundreds of thousands possible questions.

The player will be asked 10 multiple choice questions. After answering one question, the player can change to the map or knowledge database and continue the quiz later. In the new area the state to which the current question refers is automatically selected. To intense the learning effect of pointUSA, each game can be stored with result and be repeated with the same questions at a later time. Top scores are listed in the High Score list.
